The fastest pontoon boat in the world as at the 20th of March 2018, is Brad Rowland’s South Bay 925CR. It set a Guiness World Record in 2013 as it topped out at 114 miles per hour (99 knots) in Missouri for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.

Whilst the wide design, and lack of what appears to be aerodynamic profiling, you would be surprised at some of the high speeds some of them can go… with Brad Rowland’s boat being the quickest on the planet by some distance. Take a look at the video below to see it in action.

His 25 foot pontoon boat has triple Mercury Promax 300X outboard engines, which a you can see from the video, kicks up an amazing rooster tail.

Brad has been fine-tuning and customizing his pontoon boat for five years, and still believes that he will be able to eke out even quicker speeds from it. How You Can Speed Your Own Pontoon Up

If you can’t afford a super-fast pontoon, and they are very expensive, then there are some things you can do to make yours go quicker.

  1. Trim your engine
  2. Keep your pontoons clean
  3. Change your boat’s thrust
  4. Change your boat’s lift
  5. Reduce the weight on your boat
  6. Fit lifting strakes
  7. Add a third tube to make it a tritoon
  8. Don’t ride with a full tank of fuel
  9. Distribute the weight more evenly
  10. Underskin your pontoon boat
