Whilst you might spend hours choosing the right bass boat accessories, it’s wise not to rush through choosing a good bass boat name. After all, if you get wrong and end up changing your mind, you might have to get your vinyl wraps changed up – and that can expensive.

Looking for amazing accessories for your boat?

There are more than 20 ideas and gadgets including anchor winches, guards, boat covers, cup holders, chargers, hydraulic anchors, coolers, grippers, and Bluetooth speakers.

How to name your bass boat

Hopefully these ideas have given you some great inspiration on what to call your pride and joy. The naming of a boat is a rite of passage, and gives you an opportunity to have some fun, get creative, and be unique on the water.

The options are limitless, it’s just what your own imagination can come up. That’s why it’s so hard to settle on something. And when you do, you want to get it right as not only can be bad luck to change the name of a boat, but also expensive if you’ve invested in decals.

Here are some pointers that should help to ensure you don’t get it wrong!

Your boat’s name says a lot about you

How you name your boat could have wide ranging implications if you get it wrong. It will often end up being how other boaters and authorities know and recognize you.

If I can give you an example, I once saw a pontoon boat that was called “Drug Money”. The guy told me that he’d been pulled up by the Coast Guard on 2 occasions in the last year, and was even pulled over by the cops when trailering.

Do you really want to attract that kind of attention to your bass boat?

If you’re taking your family out, there are also going to be names they don’t overly appreciate. My wife stopped me naming my pontoon something really embarrassing, as she said she wouldn’t step on it unless I opted for something more sensible – thanks wife!

Don’t hurry the naming process

If you rush into a bass boat name, you could end up regretting it, especially if you’ve had the design made up and slapped onto the hull. That could be a 4-figure dollar mistake if you choose a really expensive wrap design!

I recommend writing down all your name ideas on a scrap of paper and seeing what other people think over the course of a couple of weeks.

The name you choose today might sound great, but in the future might not be so good. I am thinking something like naming your boat after a partner in case you ever decide to split up!

Whatever you choose, just make sure that it’s easy to say, read, and is relatively tasteful.

Choose an easy to spell and pronounce name

Imagine the scenario; you’re out on the water and you get into trouble.

You have to make a distress call into the US Coast Guard on a mayday call.

They ask you what the name of your bass boat is, and you reply: “Reel Big Financial Liability”

It doesn’t really roll off the tongue does it. And if the radio isn’t clear, you might even have to spell it out.

Imagine how hard that would be with a play on words, pun, or a foreign sounding name – it could make a huge difference in getting the help you need.

Choose a short name, easy to spell and sound out, with preferably no more than two words and a few easy to understand a syllables.

The last word…

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking through this list of funny bass boat names, plus all the other unique ideas. If you can think of anymore that should be added to this list, I would love to hear from you via social media so please do get in touch!
